Fly along with the Calgary Police Service HAWC helicopter and flight crew. Your experience will begin with a tour of the Air Support Unit hangar and HAWC helicopter. Following an orientation and pre-flight briefing, you will board our high-tech crime fighter for your flight. Climb aboard, hang on, and enjoy the flight of your life!
Fly-alongs take place on weekday afternoons. Fly-along certificates are not transferable for use by other organizations, clubs, or charities and recipients must be over 18 years of age. As weight affects the speed and maneuvering of the helicopter, only one person may go on a fly-along. Maximum height and weight is 6'2" and 225 lbs. Individuals who exceed these limits may not be eligible - final decision rests with the flight crew. Most of the work in the helicopter is done while flying in a left hand orbit, so only the person in the left hand seat is able to observe what is happening.
Subject to security clearance by the Calgary Police Service. The bearer must provide name, address, and birth date when booking their flight, and clearance must be approved PRIOR to flight.
Due to operational considerations, we are unable to offer fly-alongs between May 31st and September 15th.
