The Sheep Ridge Birdhouse
- Item is Closed
Beautifully handcrafted and truly one of a kind, this cozy little log cabin birdhouse was named for the Sheep River that winds its way through Okotoks. The main structure of the Sheep Ridge cabin is constructed from off-cut materials from a Habitat for Humanity Renewal project in High River. The roof is made from driftwood bark found along the shores of the Sheep River. A twig provides a temporary perch as parents move to and from the nest. The floor slides out for easy cleaning after the chicks have fledged. The cabin measures just 13.5 cm x 18.5 cm with a 2.5 cm hole, which is perfect for our smaller songbirds such as the house wren. A copper shield on the inside prevents squirrels, larger birds and other invaders from gnawing or pecking through the wood to widen the hole and take over the nest.
