Elks defensive lineman J-Min Pelley partnered with Stollery patient Mikaela to design his cleats.
Standing six foot five and weighing in at 330 pounds, Pelley is in his second season with the Elks, after having an All-Canadian university career at the University of Calgary. The Stollery Children's Hospital is a cause very close to his heart.
When Mikaela was seven years old, she was diagnosed with scoliosis and it was discovered she had Chiari malformation and needed brain surgery. Less than six weeks after her diagnosis, Mikaela returned to the Stollery where her neurosurgeon removed her cerebellar tonsils and shaved her first two vertebrae. Today, Mikaela is followed closely by her team at the Stollery and lives by the motto, "Bent but not broken", which appears on the inside of the right cleat.
Winning bidder will have option to pick up cleats at Commonwealth Stadium team store or have cleats shipped. Please contact community@goelks.com to arrange.
