Hazel Litzgus continues to captivate Albertans with her charming and nostalgic folk images of early Alberta life. Hazel Litzgus born in 1927 and grew up on a farm near Lloydminster, Alberta. Hazel began painting scenes from her prairie childhood in 1956. While self-taught, her works were originally created for her young daughter as a way of sharing her memories and knowledge of her youth. Litzgus’s works have been shown across Canada, including at the National Gallery of Canada, and internationally in London, Paris, Brussels, New York, and Tokyo. She has had solo exhibitions at the Glenbow Museum as well as private Calgary galleries and has been part of travelling group exhibitions organized by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. One of her works was presented to Queen Elizabeth II by the City of Calgary during a royal visit to Alberta in 2003. Included with the print is the artist's own thoughts behind the painting of 'The Christmas Letter". Print 2/50 -(14 7/8" x 10 /2")
