Calm Before the Storm

My art piece is supposed to look like a field in the sun facing a stormy cloud that hasn't covered up the entire sky yet. The title of the painting directly correlates to the original idea behind the painting by almost directly describing my vision for the art piece, Calm Before the Storm. The yellow field is made of pumice gel that is gritty like sand. I spread it all over the field area and then came back with this spreading tool and scraped straight lines that go in random directions. This choice that turned out quite well was originally a mistake. I disliked the outcome of adding the pumice gel and then tried to scrape it off before realizing what I have made looks very nice. I think that I have gained a lot of skill by doing this project and learning how to work around things that would take skill I don't have, it's not that these things are hard to do, it is just hard to find ways to do them easily.
