Dayle, better known as The Houdini Girl, is the World’s Most Accomplished Female Escape Artist! She has mastered many of the classic escapes and an amazing number of new creations that most escape artists only dream of performing. Dayle is the only woman in the world currently performing Houdini's Chinese Water Torture Cell in the proper, upside-down position, as Harry Houdini did in the early 1900's. She is also the only escapologist in the world to have performed an upside-down Milk Can escape while in a straitjacket and heavily chained. Dayle and her partner, Richard Sherry, have performed on a number of shows including America’s Got Talent, Fargo Season 1, and Perspectives: The Magic of Houdini with Alan Davies and David Copperfield.
Dayle is in high demand for film and television work and has been invited to perform on several current projects. She has broken boundaries in a male-dominated field and continues to inspire people around the world through unparalleled escape feats, leaving a wondrous, lasting impression on all audiences. Dayle’s love of learning knows no bounds. She has studied to be a chocolatier, a cake decorator, and a health coach. She attended post-secondary for Computer Engineering Technology and holds numerous IT certifications. She was also a machine gunner in the Canadian military!
What would you say is the most important trait or skill to develop for someone working in your field?
"I believe that learning how to manage fear is imperative in the field of escapology. It isn’t that I don’t feel fear when doing escapes, it is that I have learned how to control my fear and use it to my advantage. I believe that fear should not stop you from pursuing your dreams in life. Don’t let it be a limiting factor. You can learn how to do anything you set your mind to."
Share a success story - what are you most proud of accomplishing?
"I am very proud of our performance on America’s Got Talent. We performed an underwater escape called 'Cubed' that was made even more interesting because I had bronchitis. We performed on a stage in front of an audience of 3000 people. Despite the stress and tough 16-hour day, nothing stopped us from walking out on that stage and performing. We were unanimously voted forward by the judges and received a standing ovation from the audience."
