With over 20 years of diverse experience in marketing, communications, and brand strategy across tech, energy, construction, and utilities sectors, Elaine Mazurick has consistently driven growth and impact for companies operating in Canada, the United States, and Australia. Currently advising LodgeLink, she is passionate about fostering success and innovation. Previously, as VP of Marketing at LodgeLink and GM of Marketing & Communications at Black Diamond Group, Elaine has led teams to achieve strategic objectives and scale businesses. What would you say is the most important trait or skill to develop for someone working in your field?

"Marketing with empathy for the customer is essential. While other skills and traits such as analytics and accountability matter, it's understanding your audience's emotions, values, and pain points that truly drives effective strategies. Listening to their needs informs decisions on messaging and channels, fostering more genuine connections. In leadership, empathy builds stronger teams, enhances productivity, and fosters innovation by understanding and valuing diverse perspectives. By prioritizing empathy, leaders cultivate trust and loyalty, which drives success in an ever-evolving landscape."

Please tell us about a turning point or challenge that you feel shaped you as a leader or mentor.

"Joining a dynamic marketing and communications team, I absorbed insights from diverse leaders, each with their own effective styles. In addition, I was fortunate to receive personalized leadership coaching alongside other high-potential managers. Through months of collaboration with my coach, we dove into real-world scenarios, fostering growth through discussions, reflections, and journaling. These transformative sessions not only boosted my leadership and productivity but also empowered me with skills to nurture my team, navigate change, and excel in my career journey."

Each Mentor's session format can be found at the bottom of their auction profile page. The options are virtual (through Zoom, Skype, or other e-conference software), in-person, and flexible (based on the mentee's location and preference).
