- Hockey Night In Canada Kidney Foundation Jerseys
- Start Date: Wednesday, April 07, 2021 10:00 AM MST
- End Date: Saturday, April 17, 2021 08:00 PM MST
The Calgary Hitmen and REMAX have some unfinished business to take care of starting on April 7th.
The Hitmen were supposed to host “WHL Suits Up to Promote Organ Donation presented by RE/MAX” on March 15th, 2020, but due to COVID the WHL season was shut down before this game was able to take place. The feature piece of this promotion was the Hitmen wearing a special edition Hockey Night in Canada inspired jersey which would then be auctioned off in support of the Kidney Foundation. There is still a need to support the Kidney Foundation and as a result the Calgary Hitmen will auction off the “game issued” jerseys from April 7th to April 17th. Fans can bid on these authentic game issued jerseys with proceeds from the jersey auction directed to the Kidney Foundation via the Calgary Hitmen Foundation.
April 7th is significant as it is Green Shirt Day which promotes the “Logan Boulet Effect” an ongoing national effort to promote organ donation. Logan lost his life in the tragic Humboldt Bronco accident in April of 2018, upon his passing his organs were used to give life to 6 different patients. Each jersey in the auction features the words “Logan Boulet Effect” printed on the inside of each collar.
In addition, to the Logan Boulet Effect on the collar, the jersey features the Kidney Foundation logo on both sleeves, the Calgary Hitmen’s 25th Anniversary logo on the right shoulder, and a RE/MAX logo on the left. It also features an authentic tie down strap and player name and number on the back and sleeves.
We are hoping for Hitmen fans and the public at large support for this unusual auction of jersey’s that should have been worn for a very important cause, but weren’t. Together we can still make a difference.
