On Saturday, March 4, the Calgary Flames will wear Indigenous Celebration Night practice jerseys. Players will sign their jersey. Fans can bid on these authentic practice jerseys with proceeds from the jersey auction benefit local programming in all 7 Nations via the Calgary Flames Foundation.
The autographed Indigenous Celebration Night practice jerseys are authentic on-ice jerseys engineered by ADIDAS to the exact specifications of the National Hockey League. The jersey is made in Canada and the material is 100% polyester. The jersey features an authentic tie down strap and player name and number on the back and sleeves. The logos and pattern inside the numbers were designed by a local Indigenous artist. The logo tells the story of the Indigenous community in Treaty 7 Territory, the blasty logo is used to honour tradition, the organization and it’s loyal fanbase. He has a circle around his eye for keen vision, and stripes added to symbolize great achievements. The eagle feather often represents the culture and our connection to history. Indigenous communities use them to honour great achievements or in this case milestones. The talks of reconciliation also coincide with change, therefore the flames in the tips of the feathers are used to represent that “spark” of change in a forward moving direction. . The overall design is intended to be representative of the people and to share that connection and history of their relationship with the land.
