GET YOUR HANDS ON A ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF ART

Each of us has had breast cancer touch our life. Whether it affects you personally, a family member, a loved one or a friend, it is a devastating disease that we must eradicate. The unique pieces of art in the For the Love of Shoes Online Auction have been created in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. And your bids can make a difference in the fight against cancer.

Up for grabs are 12 pairs of shoes, donated by Canadian female celebrities from the world of television, music, sports and politics. These shoes have been transformed from everyday objects into fantastic works of art by 14 Canadian designers and artists. These pieces of art celebrate the feminine and reflect the change in the lives of those with breast cancer. Embedded in the shoes are the artists' and donors' personal stories of how breast cancer has affected them.

This is your chance to own a one-of-a-kind piece of art with a personal link to Canadian female celebrities from across the country. Winning bids receive not only the art, but also an autographed photograph of the shoe donor and an art card depicting the story behind the work of art. Find your favourite and bid today!

The For the Love of Shoes project is a partnership between the Okotoks Art Gallery and the Alberta College of Art + Design (ACAD) in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The original exhibit was curated by Dee Fontans, and this online auction is hosted by the Okotoks Art Gallery (Town of Okotoks). Proceeds raised from the auction support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Prairies and Northwest Territories division. Artwork shown above: Art and Photo by Kimberly Johansen.
