A Bit About Us and Our Community

For the past 20 years, Heaven Can Wait Animal Rescue Foundation’s mission has been to reach as many animals in need as our resources will allow. Our reach extends beyond High River into Blackie, Cayley, and Longview in addition to supporting Black Diamond, Turner Valley, Okotoks and the rural ranching community in Foothills County. We also intake animals from other organizations such as the Calgary Humane Society, City of Calgary Animal Services, ASPCA, AARCS, ASNTF, and ARF.

Our Adoption Centre is open daily to the public for visits, volunteering, and adoption. On a daily basis, we are responsible for the well-being of up to 50 dogs and 180 cats and kittens. That involves providing nourishment, a clean, safe environment, engagement, and critical veterinary care. Most importantly, your support enables us to work with animals who need more time before adoption and can continue to provide shelter, training, and care until they are ready to find their forever home. Until then, they have a home with us.

Within the auction items, you'll see a few of our sanctuary animals. For a variety of reasons including age, health, and behavioral issues, there are dogs and cats in our care who are unlikely to be ultimately rehomed. Our sanctuary animals are very important to us, and we'd like you to know a little bit about these special cats and dogs as well as their ongoing needs.
