 “The Calgary Hitmen are very excited to once again have Beattie Homes, our players, staff and all Hitmen fans join in the fight against breast cancer,” comments Mike Moore, Hitmen Director of Business Operations.  “The Beattie Homes Hockey Mums Fight Breast Cancer Campaign is an exciting promotion that is important in raising awareness of this threat to women’s health. Our goal is to make a significant contribution to support breast cancer research with the ultimate goal of finding a cure for this disease.” 

The Hitmen game worn black and pink jerseys along with game worn pink and black gloves are being auctioned here between February 25th and closes March 9th.

Both the jerseys and gloves will be presented to the winning bidders at the end of March 13th game against the Red Deer Rebels on the ice at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Canadian women. One in nine Canadian women is expected to develop breast cancer at some point during her lifetime and one in every 28 Canadian women will die from breast cancer. Since 1986, breast cancer mortality rates have declined by 25%. The current five-year survival rate for a woman diagnosed with breast cancer is 87% largely as a result of improvements in screening and treatment.
