The Sexsmith Grain Elevator is one of the largest elevators ever built and the last wooden grain elevator in the Peace Country that is eligible for preservation.  We are fundraising to assist with the preservation of this municipal historic resource.  Sexsmith was once known as the "Grain Capital of the British Empire".  The end goal is to open the elevator to show visitors how a mid-twentieth century grain elevator operated.

Due to the historical designation, the elevator must be preserved in accordance to what a typical mid-twentieth century elevator would be built with. This increases the cost of preservation to the project.   When designated, the elevator will be placed on the National register of Historic Places.  Once completed, the elevator will be open to the public and will provide tours for the educational system.
