Sass Jordan with special guest Christian Hudson: Spotlight Benefit Concert Series for Guitars for Vets Canada presented by SLAM

SLAM is a non-profit society dedicated to fostering and promoting the talented musicians of Airdrie and surrounding areas. Through several initiatives, including the Original SLAM on Air songwriting contest, and the new Spotlight Benefit Concert Series, SLAM is giving artists a platform to share their creativity and talent with the local community and beyond. By offering its members guidance, support, and a network of other gifted artists, SLAM has created a hub for music development in Airdrie. SLAM is also dedicated to supporting music through charitable endeavors, which is why they have recently partnered with Guitars for Vets Canada, supporting veterans suffering from PTSD.

Guitars for Vets Canada is a charitable organization that pairs veterans suffering from PTSD or any other disability with a guitar instructor and offers a free 10-week session including an acoustic guitar. With the support of several high-profile musicians and organizations such as SLAM, they are looking to expand from a 10-week, single instrument program to a multi instrument, multi-level program that will provide veterans and first responders who suffer from PTSD long term support.

Spotlight Benefit Concert Series is a new SLAM initiative that brings renowned musicians to Airdrie and gives local musicians the opportunity to perform as the supporting act. The concert series will raise money to support the local music community as well as supporting Guitars for Vets Canada in their mission to provide a life line to sufferers of PTSD.

Juno Award-winning artist Sass Jordan will be the first to perform in the Spotlight Benefit Concert Series, at The Bert Church Theatre on February 6, 2016. Sass Jordan is a beloved icon in the Canadian music industry and SLAM is honored to present her acoustic duo. Local musician and SLAM member, Christian Hudson, will have the opportunity to open for Sass Jordan during this concert. Christian first garnered media attention after his win at the Calgary Stampede Talent Show and subsequent donation of his winnings to the Calgary Drop-In Centre.
