Inspired by an unplanned C-section I scrubbed in on as a medical student, this acrylic painting is in support of the families whose birth plans did not go as planned. The red flowers represent the blood, the blossoming of new life, and the shared connection between the mother and her child.

About the artist, Jocelyn Ip: Jocelyn is a recent medical graduate of University of Limerick, Ireland, and an incoming Rural Family Medicine resident at the University of Saskatchewan. She has a special interest in women's health, which continues to serve as inspiration for her artwork.

This artwork is part of the White Coat, Warm HeART 2020 Exhibit.
