Heather has been a small animal veterinarian in Alberta for 30 years. She has treated all creatures great and small: geckos and hamsters, dogs, cats and owls! She supports several clinics in the city in their medical operations. She is proud to volunteer as Alberta Director for the Paw Project, an organization committed to end the painful practice of cat declawing, along with tail docking and ear cropping.

Married, and mother to three beautiful boys, Heather loves time with her pets, scuba, yoga and disc golf. She is an international judge of springboard, platform and high diving.

What would you say is the most important trait or skill to develop for someone working in your field?

"Veterinarians require sharp communication skills, the ability to work under pressure and chaos, and most importantly, empathy."

Share a success story - what are you most proud of accomplishing?

"I'm very proud of our Alberta veterinarians for banning cat declawing, ear cropping, tail docking and debarking. Animal welfare successes are my proudest accomplishments."

Dr. Heather's session format is flexible and may take place in-person or virtually.

Each Mentor's session format can be found at the bottom of their auction profile page. The options are virtual (through Zoom, Skype, or other e-conference software), in-person, and flexible (based on the mentee's location and preference).

Connection emails will be sent to the highest bidders within three weeks of the auction end date. Scheduling the session will be the responsibility of the Mentor and winning bidder. Please ensure your contact information is correct so that we can contact you if you win!
