The Happiness of Nature

Desirae Jones

Acrylic on Canvas

When I am outside in the wilderness and hiking, it makes me feel happy to look at the beautiful forest. The forest acts as a reminder of how much fun I have when I hike. My inspiration for the abstract paintings came from a professional artist, Becky McNabb. She is an abstract artist that taught me how to properly do abstract art for the first time. I learned an important lesson that an individual can take a distinguished piece of art and make it into blobs of art. I took many moments to explore throughout this project. I discovered that this project was not easy from the very beginning. As an artist, I do not work with abstract often but it is a fun, first-time experience. I am happy with myself as an artist that I could pull through to the very end. The media that I primarily used were sponges, brushes, bubble wrap, and drywall compound. Using these techniques was challenging to figure out. However, they made my painting incredibly unique and amazing to try. I believe that I have improved nicely throughout using this artistic media. I have learned to become better with my creative thoughts and to not copy straight from references.
