Winter Forest Lines

Joséphine Frenzel

Acrylic on Canvas

The abstract project was the hardest project for me personally. Contrary to what it looks like, good planning and inspiration take an important role in the process. Abstract art definitely takes a lot of creativity as reality is being transformed into entirely new shapes and colors. What helped me a lot in achieving this were all the different kinds of media available. For me it was hard to have a clear template but not being supposed to copy it, so I took my inspiration from the colors of a clearing in the mountains covered with snow, which I had visited some time ago and just couldn’t forget. It was a truly beautiful image. My painting consists of exaggerated versions of the original colors, and the different forms are different parts of the clearing. The painting does not have a top and bottom, there is no “right” way to hang it up. It is left to the viewer to hang it the way it seems the best to them.
