Sunlight Jellyfish

Jordyn Clarke

Acrylic on Canvas

I got the idea of using the rough grainy texture the first day of working on the project so that I could make it look like sand on a beach. The colour palette I chose to use was inspired by water and how light reflects on it in the summertime. The bumpy texture in the middle of the canvas originally represented waves, but after getting some other artists' opinions, I decided they ended up looking more like jellyfish! Our guest artist Becky, showed us some neat techniques on how to make our paintings more abstract and textured. By using some different media, I found layering some of the textures and painting over it created the beachy look I was going for. My painting symbolises the flow of water and the colours that are interpreted in a body of water you would see in real life. This is important to me because I love going to the lake and swimming in the summer. The colours remind me of the sun shining on the water and making it have a pink colour added to it.
