For my artwork I chose to explore the beauty of the ocean, especially its unique coral reefs. I was inspired by the beautiful colours and flow of the ocean, which I conveyed through the use of harmonious curved lines. To add texture to my piece I used coarse pumice gel to mimic the appearance of sand, and painted it gold to add warmth to the painting. Throughout the painting process, I gained valuable knowledge on how to work with acrylic paint and got to know the media very well. I struggled initially with creating an abstract piece, but once I got more comfortable I quite enjoyed it. By creating this piece I’ve learned more about non-representational art and the beauty of creating something based on feeling rather than a literal interpretation of a subject.
